Site works will start soon on the $42 million East Green project designed to deliver about 140 new homes to Greenwood.
Work on site will soon start on the Liberal National Government’s new infill housing development in Greenwood, which will provide affordable new homes and create 150 direct jobs.
The East Green project on Mulligan Drive will provide about 140 new homes for a range of residents, including young buyers wanting to own their first home and downsizers.
“East Green will deliver on the Liberal National Government’s commitment to provide much needed affordable and diverse housing in the heart of established suburbs like Greenwood,” Ms Harvey said.
“The $42 million development will include one, two and three-bedroom homes and create 150 direct jobs in planning and construction.”
Brendon Grylls said the State Government and developer Frasers Property Group had worked closely with local residents and the council to ensure East Green added value to the community.
“That’s why we’ve included significant tree retention and 25 per cent public open space in the design – more than double the requirement,” Mr Grylls said.
“We will build out the site rather than selling off parcels of land to ensure there is an integrated outcome.”
The State Government provided the land and has partnered with leading developer Frasers Property Group to finance and deliver the $42 million project. Construction is expected to be completed by mid-2020.
Ms Harvey said East Green would provide a significant boost for the local economy and employment in the region.
“Local businesses such as those at nearby Kingsway, Greenwood and Warwick shopping centres will also benefit from increased demand for their services from future residents. East Green is another example of the Government working with the private sector to deliver its Affordable Housing Strategy and target of 30,000 affordable homes by 2020,” Ms Harvey said.
